A Special Thank You to #TeamCrikey

I know I’ve talked a lot about Bindi Irwin this season, but I can’t not — I’m so in awe of her strength, and the light she continuously radiates, it feels like I’ve personally grown with her as well. I cannot imagine losing my father at the age she was at, and while I wasn’t much older when the tragedy struck in my home as well, I can say that I wasn’t as positive at 17. And I think that’s what amazes me so much, the fact that she can see the beauty in life as a teen. We don’t give teenagers nearly enough credit for all the terrors they face. To walk with that kind of grace and light changes lives and while the line between reality and fiction is often blurred on television, this is the first time where I can say I genuinely feel the honesty in a production. I will always have trust issues with reality TV, but thankfully Dancing With the Stars never fails to leave me astonished.

Dancing With The Stars
Alexa PenaVega and Derek Hough

It appears as though TV Tuesday will be heavily focused on Dancing With The Stars this season and we can’t say we’re displeased with the fact. There were plenty of excellent performances during this week’s switch up, but how could we talk about anything other than the first perfect score? It appears I’m one of the few who actually enjoyed the music choice — Bastille’s “Pompeii ” is a stunning number. While their dance was riveting in every way it could’ve been, what’s ultimately left me floored is the encouragement we watched Derek proudly give. Sometimes all it takes is someone constantly grilling you to believe in yourself. And those “I Am’s” sure paid off because Alexa PenaVega was astounding! (And exclamation point worthy). As she’s on our list of top performers, we cannot wait to see how gorgeously she improves in coming weeks.

Watch their dance below.

Dancing With The Stars
Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough

I brought back TV Tuesday from its Summer hiatus just in time to talk about the stunning performances during Dancing With The Stars’ “Most Memorable Year” theme. While each of the dances were wonderful (managing to make me cry more than once), it’s Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough’s contemporary piece that’s left me stunned. It’s always beautiful to see someone showcase their love for someone in a form of a dance, but what’s most astounding about this performance is how young Bindi Irwin is. We don’t give teenagers nearly enough credit for the strength they have within and it’s inspiring to see her positivity resonate so beautifully with audiences no matter the age range. Every time this darling girl is on screen, you can help but smile — the positivity and love she emanates is so inspiring. There’s so much strength in her and I love that her story allows others to feel that though they may be hurting, they can push through the pain and bring light into the world through kindness.
