25 Love Stories 15/25
George Knightley and Emma Woodhouse (BBC Emma)

It’s so difficult to choose a favorite couple in the world of period dramas (TV edition): between Ross and Damelza Poldark and Emma Woodhouse and Goerge Knightley, BBC can do no wrong. However, seeing as how Poldark isn’t over yet, and I’m actually hoping a certain event from the book doesn’t make it on to the series, we’ll talk about BBC Mini Series Emma. Emma is undoubtedly my second favorite story the brilliant Jane Austen has told, but never once have I been so in love with a TV/film adaptation as I am with 2009’s remake with Romola Garai and Johnny Lee Miller. Emma and Knightley’s relationship has always been the most pleasant showcase of two people who’ve known each other for years gradually falling in love. Their story is brought to life masterfully in BBC Emma and watching a mini series finally do the book justice is all this nerd can ask for. What I’ve loved most about Emma and Knightley is that even though they can and will do anything to get under the other’s skin, at the same time, they’ll always have each other’s backs.
