This Week’s Most Exquisite TV Moment

January 22-28
“Borrowing Problems from the Future” | The Flash

While the world falls apart, it’s good to know we can always count on TV to deliver phenomenal episodes after another. Timeless rocked our hearts with The Lone Ranger’s epic identity. This is Us debuted my personal favorite episode to date. Suits returned with an emotionally charged promising episode. Nashville dealt with some much needed internalized feelings, and Emerald City took its core characters on daring adventures. But it was The Flash’s winter premiere that I’ve not been able to get out of my head.

“Borrowing Problems from the Future” was an incredible episode for The Flash’s Barry Allen and Iris West showcasing their relationship beautifully in all its profound glory. I appreciated Barry telling Iris about the future changing as early on in the game as possible because he’s often messed up trying to take matters into his own hands. But revealing the truth early on opened up the platform for Team Flash to work together in saving Iris’ life. And in the scene where Barry shows Iris the headline, Grant Gustin and Candice Patton have never been more exquisite as scene partners.

Barry’s promise to protect Iris through every darkness that awaits them has been gorgeous. My admiration for The Flash started with the exceptional teamwork, but today, Iris West’s character continues to stand out as the most admirable. Barry and Iris as a couple paints a gorgeous picture of unity — bringing everyone together in celebration of friendship and adoration. And Joe West wins the award in gift giving because while I’m personally not a fan of the childhood best friends to lovers trope, there’s not been a thing more adorable than the picture of little Barry and Iris as a housewarming gift.

I agree; The Flash S3E10 was phenomenal! From the opening scene with Barry and Iris in their loft to the closing scene of the Loft Warming party, it was a joy to watch. This episode not only took Iris and Barry’s relationship to the next left, but it also took the show higher. I find that each season, the show is getting better and better. Grant and Candice do an a-mazingt job acting as Barry and Iris and their chemistry is unprecedented. The acting in the vault scene was off the charts! I look forward to seeing them each week! Although I have been dissatisfied in the past, kudos to The Flash Writers for coming through after much anticipation for this episode. They even set the stage for the remaining episodes with the headlines. Well done! I am so looking for to the rest of the season!
