This Week’s Most Exquisite TV Moment

January 24-30
The Cruise” Brooklyn Nine Nine

There were a lot of fantastic moments on television this week, but Brooklyn Nine Nine continues to provide its viewers with subtle brilliance and for that, I’m perpetually grateful.

One of my favorite things on an ensemble series like Brooklyn Nine Nine is getting to know our characters more, and it was lovely to have a moment about Captain Holt’s past with his sister. And to top it off, we got to see the fact that Holt’s an incredible brother who’d do anything to protect and cherish his sister just like he would with his squad. Henceforth, the fact that he built a fort in his office to comfort her was a beautifully memorable gesture.

On top of the beautiful showcase of a sibling relationship, Jake and Amy finally exchanged “I love you’s” in the most unexpected way making it incredibly remarkable. During the episode Amy mentions that every time she tries to get serious or states something emotional, Jake responds with “smort” or “noice”, but this time, he caught himself and responded with his true feelings. I loved watching them dance once more just as they’d done in the past only this time, they’re not only together, but they’re declaring just how much they love being with each other. At the end of the day, it all comes down to selflessness and while Jake was obsessed with catching the Pontiac Bandit again, he came to the realization that quality time with Amy is far more vital.
