Scandal 5×04 “Dog-Whistle Politics” Recap

Spoilers Ahead

Olivia deals with the nasty press, Fitz makes a drastic move that leaves Mellie ready for revenge.

Episode Summary: We learn quite a bit about our ever-so-handsome Jake, a new Gladiator steps up, Fitz makes another decision that leaves everything on the line and Mellie goes to extremes.

Review | Analysis: Whatever this Lazarus One is all about, it is something important. Jake should’ve known better than to think Rowan wasn’t going to spill the beans on it. Jake was thinking that either Rowan had someone on the outside making sure everything was smooth sailing or that Rowan himself was still pulling the strings. Regardless of that, Rowan still managed to “get mad” at Olivia.

Chicago P.D. 3×03 “Actual Physical Violence” Recap

Spoilers Ahead

This week’s episode was once again a heavy one, but it showcased team work wonderfully.

Episode Summary: It’s a crazy, busy day at the police department and when a frazzled man looking for his daughter can’t get Platt’s attention, he holds Mouse at gunpoint. One of their own in a dangerous situation quickly gets everyone’s attentions and their hunt towards finding the girls works out gloriously as each of them were alive despite being missing for a very long time. And with James Beckett out of prison, Voight’s life is threatened.

Review | Analysis: It was amusing to get another episode focused on parents and their children. And thankfully there were no deaths in this one although the trauma the girls faced made the episode heavy enough. It’s always best when we get backstory on characters no matter if they’re secondary; writers for the series are so great at providing riveting stories. “Actual Physical Violence” was essentially a fantastic set up for what’s to come in the next few weeks for it gave us lots of material to look forward to.

Nashville 4×04 “The Slender Threads That Bind Us Here”

Spoilers Ahead

Yet another heavy episode with tons and tons of drama.

Episode Summary: Deacon’s throwing his anger and sadness out on Scarlett. Layla has her debut at the Opry but Markus Keen steals the spotlight with a performance with Rayna. Juliette’s now taking stronger drugs, so when Cadence goes to the ER for a high fever, she has absolutely no idea forcing Avery to believe she’ll never change. Will continues to be a wonderfully supportive figure and a complete ray of sunshine.

Review | Analysis: It’s no surprise that writing about Nashville is incredibly hard right now because while I’m all for good drama, sometimes when it’s too much, I don’t want to talk about it. The reason why I review things is to sit down and discuss the material further, but with this season I want to forget these episodes ever existed. That said, since there’s been no resolution since last week this review will be much shorter than most. My deepest apologies, but ultimately spending time discussing sad material affects me negatively so I have to stay away. I understand grief. I understand that life comes with numerous difficulties but there’s enough of it in the real world, and I don’t want to spend my time reviewing talking about depressing things as well. The fantastic balance that was once present in Nashville currently isn’t thereby making this so difficult.

Dancing With The Stars
Alexa PenaVega and Derek Hough

It appears as though TV Tuesday will be heavily focused on Dancing With The Stars this season and we can’t say we’re displeased with the fact. There were plenty of excellent performances during this week’s switch up, but how could we talk about anything other than the first perfect score? It appears I’m one of the few who actually enjoyed the music choice — Bastille’s “Pompeii ” is a stunning number. While their dance was riveting in every way it could’ve been, what’s ultimately left me floored is the encouragement we watched Derek proudly give. Sometimes all it takes is someone constantly grilling you to believe in yourself. And those “I Am’s” sure paid off because Alexa PenaVega was astounding! (And exclamation point worthy). As she’s on our list of top performers, we cannot wait to see how gorgeously she improves in coming weeks.

Watch their dance below.

25 Love Stories 11/25
Clay Evans and Quinn James (One Tree Hill)

One Tree Hill featured some of the most ridiculously dramatic storylines and while I’ve rolled my eyes plenty of times during all my nine years as a fan, Mark Schwahn is still one of the most admirable writers when it comes to characters and romances. Clay Evans and Quinn James are the third pairing from the series that have secured a spot on this list with their charming story. It’s difficult to imagine what the series used to be like without their characters let alone their interactions with one another. I’m not sure who loves them more, the audience or Robert Buckley and Shantel VanSanten who to this day continue to pay homage to them in the sweetest ways. |xOne Tree Hill told stories in the most intense fashion sometimes, but at the end of the day, the love stories always have a unique beginning and a gorgeous impact on both characters.

Once Upon A Time 5×03 “Siege Perilous” Recap

Spoilers Ahead

Bromances, darkness, and more mysteries.

Episode Summary: In Camelot, Charming and Arthur bond while in Storybrooke Robin and Hook plot a mission of their own. Dark Swan tries to find the hero that’ll pull Excalibur from the stone, but things go south when Hook refuses to give in to the darkness. Gold’s awaken and Arthur is insane.

Review | Analysis: Tonight’s episode was yet another reminder that we stand where we do because of the choices we make. While evil forces have power, at the end of the day so does light, and when we find ourselves lost, the people we love never give up on us. It’s interesting to note however that it appears this is the first time all our heroes have found themselves disagreeing most. And while we still don’t know what betrayal led to Emma embracing the darkness, we can be certain that there will be a rift amongst them depending on which knight they choose to believe.
